3 words of the week....

So my goal is for the general public to use these three words throughout the week.... I'm going to use them in every conversation I am in.  Even if it's with the bank teller. :)

1.  Meshuga   (muh-SHOOG-uh) adj.

Crazy; insane.

2.  Obsequious (ob-SEE-kwee-us) adj.

Servilely attentive; compliant to excess; fawning.

3. Tryst (trist, trahyst) noun.

An appointment to meet at a certain time and place, esp. one made somewhat secretly by lovers.

-- So I could tell my bank teller that: "Their obsequious attitude about my trysts is meshuga!"  :)

black guy asks nation for change

So I was walking downtown yesterday and looked over at the newsstand and I saw a picture of Barack Obama and this headline that caught my eye....

"Black Guy Asks Nation For Change"

I almost died laughing! It of course was from The Onion. Here are some of my fav excerpts:
  • "'I'll be honest, when that black man said he would 'stop at nothing' to get change it kind of scared me."
  • "It is estimated that, to date, the black man has asked every single person in the United States for change."
  • "Why's he so eager for all this change?  What's he going to do with it, anyway?"
  • "He just stood there smiling at us for a while, and asked how our food tasted.  Then he went and did the same thing at the next table over.  The nerve of some people."
  • "'What a wacko,' Schaumburg,  IL resident Patrick Morledge said. 'And, of course, after telling us all about how he had the ability to magically fix everything, he went right back to asking for change.  Typical.'"

wii kitty!!!

Two of my favorite things combined in one....

do i look like a scary democrat?

So weird observation today.... I'm minding my own business, going to Safeway to pick up my new favorite drink (Black Cherry FRESCA!!! mmmmmm....) and on the way in there are two political petitioner people out front. Both of them look at me, look at the grandma walking in next to me and they approach her.  Ok.  Whatev.  I'm walking up and down the aisles steaming over this as this is about the fifth or sixth time this has happened to me since moving to Denver from Fort Collins.  I began conjuring all the pre-determined thoughts these retired-need-a-life petitioners are thinking of me as.  A punk?  A blase twenty-something?  Is it because of my earring that scares these people?  Or is it my gigantic toothy smile I give them as I walk past? Anyways...I'm stewing and stewing and getting mad and finally as I'm leaving I loiter around the entrance feigning interest in flower beds.  Nothing.  NADA!  I finally asked a cart puller inner (that HAS to be the worst job EVER!) what was going on...and she's like.. "Oh it's some McCain thing.." .... whew!  I guess their judgements of me are correct! ;)

how seeqpod changed my life...

One of my fav sites on the planet is one that many people don't know about.  Let's say you're stuck at work without your amazing CD by the transcendent Vampire Weekend (you seriously should check them out) life is looking down at that point!  Well point your little mouse over to SEEQPOD.COM.  it'll change your life.... seriosuly.... do it....  :)

What you can do is stream audio directly to your computer! What's nice is the way the organize it as you can have 8 songs lined up and all gonna play.  WHAT'S EVEN COOLER.... it works with a certain phone that was released last year... that rocks my spanish world...

this made me squeal a little

minding my own business today....

i see this.....

american idol recap 3/25/08

Ok. SO. To start off.... what was on Paula's wrists?! Are they some sort of psycho-treatment of some sort. Second. I feel bad for David Archueleta's 'girlfriend.'
She's become the most LOATHED person in every pre-teen and teen girl's life.  Can we smell death threats?

FIRST up..
Ramiele -- "Alone": GAG. KILL ME NOW.  Carrie Underwood did it better a couple years back. Please stop thinking you're so good when really you ain't. I would start packing your little Hello Kitty! suitcase.  2.5/10

Jason Castro----"Fragile":  Is it just me or does his 'hippie roots' (and by 'hippie roots' I mean his 'herbal extracurricular activities') become more and more apparent every time he does an interview?  I couldn't love it more.  I think he's funny, warmhearted and I personally enjoyed the performance.  He totally is that guy in college that just got done playing ultimate frisbee, grabs his friends who are kicking around the hacky sack, takes a swig from his Nalgene and sings the song he created for his girlfriend that works at Whole Foods.  It's my comfort music.  6.5/10

Chikezie---"If Only For One Night": My hatred for this guy started pretty early on.  I believe when they started ONLY using his first name and not even putting up his last.  That ALMOST bothers me as much as people that have a potential first name as their last name (i.e. Michael Scott, John Robert, etc) . OH three good things though, his mom ROCKS, cute baby pictures, and OH he doesn't have that far to travel tomorrow when they send him packing....being obnoxious: ratings, having a cool mom: good for life, but that walk of shame from Hollywood to Inglewood, CA: priceless. 4.5/10

David Archuleta---"You're the Voice": Tonight proved one thing to me..... SOMEONE rescue this boy from that guy with the goatee and is ALWAYS wearing a baseball cap.  Honestly, his scary stage dad is now choosing horrendous songs for him. Sigh.  I still have faith in you lil' David! That footage of you dancing as a little mariachi guy with your sister when you were young scored points with the Spaniard in me. :) Psss...hey David, don't tell the American public you're in a relationship...take it from someone who knows...you gotta make 'em think you're available! P.S. Thanks to you David, my mom and I somehow got involved in a 20 minute discussion on Castrato. 6.5/10

Kristy Lee Cook----"God Bless the USA": OMG. I'm scared to say this..... I kinda liked it. Haha. Ok, so before you accuse me of getting prepared mentally for my Austin trip (6 days left!) it was solid and I enjoyed it. So sue me. :)  7.5/10

My predics for bottom three---
  1. Chikezie (seeya!)
  2. Ramiele
  3. Carly

peep show

it's a peep show ya'll.....

:) HEHE.....

RIP Jason Rae

So many of you know that I've been slightly-obsessed the last 18 months or so with a one Corinne Bailey Rae.  I had to post a little blurb just acknowledging that last weekend Jason Rae passed away at 31.  Now I don't want to touch the whole issue or debate surrounding the apparent drug overdose (although a blog in the future will surely show up), I just wanted to say that I feel for her and her family and thing it's a travesty whenever someone's life is over so quickly and at such a young age.  I can't even imaging what horrendous feelings would ensue knowing that my partner/lover/friend of seven years is no longer going to answer the phone, hold your hand in a scary movie, or sleep silently next to you in bed. Much prayer and support is sent your way Corinne.

in memory here is possibly my favorite performance of my favorite of her songs.....

happy easter!!!

  • 8:30am - church
  • 11:00am - Marriott buffet (Omelettes and Mimosas...mmmm....)
  • 11:30am - attacked by the creepy easter bunny
  • 12:15pm - finished my fifth plate of food
  • 12:20pm - creepy Easter bunny gave me a back massage, so I got a picture

Have a great Easter celebration today!!

(the bunny 'dancing'.....creepy.....)

Austin, Texas

Look out Austin, Texas..... I'm bound for you in eight days. :) I'm SO excited.  So I'm visiting the Lone Star state to see if the University of Texas - Austin will be the Film School for me.  I do have a bachelors in Journalism, but I'm looking for that Masters in Film. I'm nervous to visit as I'm basically 97% sure I'm gonna move there! There were three words that sold me on the town---- Liberal (don't hate me mom!), Unabashedly offbeat city and outdoorsy. Two of the three I definitely am.  Haha.... guess which two. :)

Here's some pics of the city.

let's get a hedgehog

I think I need to drive to my nearest Exotic Pets Unlimited and get a hedgehog immediately.  My Aunt Nancy said she'd get one with me... hehe... we could raise the coolest animals EVER! I think Rocky would be fine with a hedgehog, just a little freaked.  Here's a picture I took of Rocky and I today...

Please check out Heaven Sent Hedgehogs

facebook ads - don't ask don't tell!

My friend Tyler found this and I thought it was hilarious.  I'm sure Lee would love to know that his Army picture is next to an ad for "Gay Relationship Help".

so i want a corgi

So I've decided that I want a Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  My good friend Heather has a Corgi now and had a sweet little Corgi that passed away due to China's wonderful way of regulating dog food. :(

Wikipedia had some of the strangest information about Corgis. For instance, Hugh Hefner's girlfriend has one, there's an Anime Cowboy Bebop one as well as the good ol' sexy Queen Elizabeth has SIXTEEN of them!   A performance artist on May 30th, 2007 cooked and ate some Corgi meat on TV in protest of Prince Phillip's hunting of foxes.
 WEIRD.  Take the following example:

Fox vs. Corgi

I think I know which one is cuter.  Let's all take our Corgis for a long walk while our fox stew is sauteing....
YUMMY!

Interesting Corgi Facts:

"Favored dog by British royalty for more than seventy years."  I'm thinking that since I do have a castle in my families name (which strangely has a B&B attached to it) that I definetly have royal blood in me somewhere.  Some conquistador that traveled the countryside of Spain looking for a Green Chile Burrito perhaps...but the royalty would have me innately liking Corgis and having a royal bond with them. Just a bizarre thought. I like that Wikipedia says: "This little dog is friendly and playful, although it has been known to nip at people's (especially children) heels either in play or in an attempt to herd them, due to instinct."

I LOVE a dog that innately will bite children and try to herd them all together... bwahaha....
