Taco Cabana

If you know of Taco Cabana you are either privileged or unfortunate.  When I knew of them in Albuquerque in 1994-1998 they were the shizznet.... always good, always tthe crem de la creme of fast food.  Fast forward until today, they are apparently two steps behind Taco Bell.  Sad. Very Sad.  I used to get the #74 (back when their entire menu was number based.... probably some racial comment could be made here but I 'll leave it... :) ).  Now it's just considered the bacon and egg taco.  They serve it midnight until 10 am (weekdays) and midnight until noon weekends. PLENTY of time for me to get it. Especially nights like tonight when it's 12:15 and I'm hungry...what better than a breakfast taco!? Of course! :) So here's a toast to my papa's and my favorite thing to get. ( My dad and I to you common folk.... Love ya daddio....)

rude chipotle women

First I must start out by saying I am Spanish and am in no way being racially disrespectful to my own people...ha!

Ok, so I've been to the original Chipotle in Denver, Colorado more times than I can count.  One of my FAVORITE places in the entire WORLD is Chipotle.  I've really but unhealthily obsessed for YEARS now... I think I've actually been a fan since 1999/2000 is when I remember first eating there all the time.

  

ANYWAYS.... my point being this--- 

I love you my Mexican-Mamacita line servers, but enough with the attitude.  

From every location I've been to-- Denver, Orange County, NYC, and most recently Austin..... have had the most MOODY-life-hating servers! The other day I go in and it's the ..."How can I help you?" in the suicidal tone.  After asking for Chicken Fajita.... then asking for more fajita, more, NO more please! Same with the hot sauce, more hot sauce please, NO more please, MORE! .....the cheese, everything! Call me crazy but for $6.25 I want my burrito packed.  I love it though becuase I don't look especially Spanish....so two things-- 1. They don't think I can handle my HOT sauce like I can....and 2. They don't know I can understand certain Spanish phrases used to describe me and whomever I'm with.  Not that it's that bad, but 'moron' and 'demanding' have certainly come up....

Now the CLENCHER is that if they are at all irritated me during the execution of the PERFECT burrito (Chicken Fajita, tiny bit of black beans, EXTRA hot (red) sauce, a little bit of green sauce, lots of cheese and a little bit of sour cream) I will always ask for them to stir it up with a fork.  ALWAYS gets an eye roll and I LOVE IT! :) 

SO please take a moment to loosen the bun underneath that hairnet and just relax for a bit... boy-kay?

So I was wondering around Austin the other day and I looked up and saw this striking red-head.... I thought to myself... "I know this woman...she looks familiar...."

NO!!! it's famous NYC Blogger turned author turned Austin blogger STEPHANIE KLEIN!!  

Luckily I didn't make a goof of myself... I nicely introduced myself....asked how she was doing and she immediately is like... "OMG.. are you single?!?!" ...which I had to admit to.... "YOU HAVE to come to my book release party this Tuesday.... Hot Dogs, Chocolate, Vodka and hundreds of single beautiful women!!! What more could you want?!?!" 

haha.... 

So we chatted and shot the breeze for a while and she finally gave me her card and I told her I would be at her book release party this Tuesday! :) should be fun! 

in case you don't know who Stephanie Klein is...she started the UBER blogging of 2004/2005.... she is definitely the Carrie Bradshaw of bloggers...which turned into a book deal - "Straight Up and Dirty" and is releasing a new book all about the Fat Camp she went to....

FEED 100.... go buy this bag!!

So I was casually perusing through my new Sunday hangout spot -Whole Foods HQ in downtown Austin- when I came across a bag that blew my mind!! It's called the FEED 100 bag, designed by Lauren Bush (George W. Bush's niece) and the purchase of it "provides 100 nutritious meals to hungry school age children in Rwanda through the United Nation World Food Program's school feeding program."  

VERY COOL!!!

fun weekend!

So my favorite Aunt and Uncle from Orange County came out to visit for the weekend....which was WAY fun!!  We went horseback riding, out to Red Robbin, the gym, a massage, the Kentucky Derby, the mall and to a Rockies game!  (half of that is an inside joke...hehe..)  They're the greats family fo sho...and we definitely had divertirse a costa de alguien!  :)   BUT the Rockies game was a great time and my mom and I enjoyed dancing around... I included the best song they played at the bottom. Here are some pictures from their visit and more are sure to come!!

My question of the day revolves around a certain food... so I'm on a crazy diet (when am I not?! right?!) and I'm trying to not have carbs for 2 weeks.  So today I'm dead tired from doing my insane swimming workout plan last night (42 laps...which equals about a mile and a quarter...gag....) I went to the AMAZING Nordstrom's Ebar  

and got their Thai Salad... it was very yummy and I believe it was Egg Angel Hair pasta... anyways... my question....

ARE NOODLES CARBS!?!?!?!? AHHH!!  

I'm on the phone with Nordstroms right now.... we'll see.... any thoughts? I'm trying to lose 20 lbs in 2 months... we'll see....
