was i an american teen?

I got to go to an advanced screening of this film last night... it was... interesting.  I wasn't that impressed to say the least.  Given that it's supposed to be a Documentary, it didn't quite live up to the standards I was expecting.  Some story lines seemed forced and edited down to a very specific stereotype.  If you want to see the rich, straight, white lifestyle of teenagers.... be my guest.  I feel actually bad for these kids as it feels like they were exploited.  Now, as they are two years after graduation are being forced to be held accountable for their actions in High School.  I know I was a freakishly good kid in HS... but I wouldn't want to recount it all on film! I would have been the "Geek" as I was super involved in Marching Band and Theater!  :)  ANYWAYS... go see it for yourself and let me know what you think... I'm just happy I was on the VIP list and didn't have to pay! :)

another reason i LOVE Austin.... Alamo Drafthouse

I'll have to blog later about the amazingness that IS The Alamo Drafthouse...... but until then.... here's August's trailer!

baghead

Alternative content

So kinda cool story.... the directors of "Baghead" used to live in Austin and when they came out with their latest movie they decided to premiere/release it in Austin only.  So June 10th it was in Austin...and not until July 20 something it will be in NYC and LA.  Kinda cool! I saw it this last weekend and I must admit I was impressed with the character side of it.  It was one of the funniest character studies I've seen..as well as it being FREAKY.  So I went from laughing my butt off to grasping the napkin in front of me scared out of my mind....all in one hour!! :)

the fall

WOW! I just saw the most amazing movie trailer!!! It's be the director who did one of my top 30 films of all time....... "The Cell"..... and it looks visually incredible! Check out the trailer HERE

So it's supposed to be these two characters in a hospital and the older one tells the younger girl this story about these five different characters and what they go through and the such.  If anyone remembers "The Cell,"  it has that visual element and creepy influx of ideas and elements into the story that made it remarkable.

Apparently this movie has been released, but who knows where?!

omg angelina jolie

tell me this promo pic of her new movie isn't hot....

Netflix vs. Blockbuster

I'm having a dilemma..... I think I HATE Netflix.... sigh.... they seem to "receive" my movie five days after I mail them and seem to take another four for me to actually have them in my mailbox.  :)

Maybe I'll go back to the day when that lovely chubby woman at Blockbuster used to hold movies aside for me she thought I'd like and I'd come in and we'd chat...sigh... I loved the nerdiness of it... but I like the look and feel and phone capability of the Netflix queue better.  I'm a nerd.....
