so I'm watching my fav show... "So You Think You Can Dance" and they have this pretty good performance from these people...but I was amazed at the SONG they played!!! IT WAS BREATHTAKING!!!
so of course I hit the google...nothing...hmmm... all I had were lyrics to go to. I looked on message boards, everything!! there were quite a lot of people looking for the song as well!! FINALLY someone figured out it is --
"California" by Craig Lyons
here is his music video for it (video is kinda lame...but the song is AMAZING!)
so last night I was fortunate enough to be able to video chat with the family!! THAT made my day... scratch that... MY WEEK! :) they make me so happy!! So I gave them a tour of my new place, the roommate's cat (UCHI!) and the such!! WAY fun!! (even though iChat was being mean and we resorted to Skype....thank you heaven for Skype!!)
Here's some screen grabs that make me happy!!! (OH and my dog Rocky was staring at the speakers apparently wondering what in the world I was doing inside the computer!!! SOO CUTE!)
photo 1 --- I like this one 'cause I am in the top looking really happy that Rocky and I get a chance to catch up on things!!! :)
photo 2---- I LOVE this one... 'cause I got my amazing roomie Nadine to grab the cat (Uchi) and have her cat talk to Rocky....haha....
AHHHH!!! another episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" is on tonight... I won't be too bitter against my roommate for deleting last weeks from the TiVo.... :( .. (cough cough---NADINE---cough cough).
i read puntabulous' blog quite regularly and i liked this one from not too long ago...its about "THAT GUY".....the one who has everything and is super good at EVERYTHING they do!! somehow this one has a Star Wars twist that I just love....
someone told me today that I'm the Tila Tequila of Facebook.....
I have NO idea what that means...other than she has 3 gazillion friends and doesn't know any of them and my facebook friend total is somewhere in the mid-800's.....hmmm
So I was wondering around Austin the other day and I looked up and saw this striking red-head.... I thought to myself... "I know this woman...she looks familiar...."
Luckily I didn't make a goof of myself... I nicely introduced myself....asked how she was doing and she immediately is like... "OMG.. are you single?!?!" ...which I had to admit to.... "YOU HAVE to come to my book release party this Tuesday.... Hot Dogs, Chocolate, Vodka and hundreds of single beautiful women!!! What more could you want?!?!"
haha....
So we chatted and shot the breeze for a while and she finally gave me her card and I told her I would be at her book release party this Tuesday! :) should be fun!
in case you don't know who Stephanie Klein is...she started the UBER blogging of 2004/2005.... she is definitely the Carrie Bradshaw of bloggers...which turned into a book deal - "Straight Up and Dirty" and is releasing a new book all about the Fat Camp she went to....
10pm, I get out of work and head towards my new friend Jeff and his wife's place to let their cool four terrier dogs out....
10:25pm, I leave the ghetto (where they live) and head to 6th street.
10:35pm, I FIND A PARKING SPOT ON 5TH AND BRAZOS!! ...ok I realize if you're not from Austin that doesn't seem like a big deal... it's like driving to the most major street in your city and finding the absolute perfect parking spot. wild.
10:37pm, I arrive at The Parish and find out they are sold out! AHHH! I was stressed!! it was $16 at the door so i thought I'd try a scalper....
10:59pm, NO scalper...I'm freaking... OH WAIT... a scalper! I ask him how much and he says $20.....ewhwwww.... all I have is $12... he says OK! WOO HOO! i got in cheaper than he paid! bwahahaha.....
Ok...this is where the story gets scary. Granted it's 93 degrees at 11pm... not normal..and the venues AC is out. WOW. So i'm dying of heat and sweat but at least everyone else is so it's no real biggie.
11:40pm, The Kills take the stage and I found out a little bit more why they call Austin the live music capitol of the world... I tell ya... the streets are filled with music EVERY night. It's all they say it is and more!
Here's a video of them earlier this year in Austin at SXSW
haha... so I talked to my amazing friend Megan today and it reminded me of the video we made for the Amazing Race tryouts! LOL! So i found it on YouTube and decided to post it...so lame.. but it came up with another persons version on the links on the side..... YOU decide which is better!
...and to answer your question... YES the American Idol judges I saw in Denver said I was pretty good...just not amazing... yeah.. take that! :)
So I was casually perusing through my new Sunday hangout spot -Whole Foods HQ in downtown Austin- when I came across a bag that blew my mind!! It's called the FEED 100 bag, designed by Lauren Bush (George W. Bush's niece) and the purchase of it "provides 100 nutritious meals to hungry school age children in Rwanda through the United Nation World Food Program's school feeding program."
VERY COOL!!!
and it's only $29...so head to Whole Foods and buy one!!
I LOVE my mom... she's a great woman!! She was the greatest mentor, provider, and friend that you possibly could have!! (and she reads my blog too!! lol)
....too bad I'm now technically 1,000 miles away. :(
but I LOVE YOU MOM!! Can't wait for you to come out with Dad in June for Andrea's wedding!!!
So don't know if you know but I left this morning (Wednesday) for Austin!!! I've started a photo-blog dedicated to photos/videos/etc of what happens on the drive down and my wandering of the city!!! Should be a fun/interesting experiment!! So feel free to hop over and take a look!!
The post about Dick Tracy made me think of Stephen Sondheim (as he composed the music for the movie as well as winning the Academy Award for best song for that last post!) So I was wondering what everyone's fav Sondheim musical was .....
i blogged many moons ago about how much I loved the song "The Origin of Love" from the musical -Hedwig and the Angry Inch- Well last night while packing I came across the DVD of it and put it on and had myself a dancing feast while shoving clothes into little boxes. :) ENJOY!
So I've been packing (UGH!) and have gotten extremely slap happy and bored.... boxes and the such are starting to infuriate me and embed in my mind causing extreme craziness...
SO I started documenting my inventory by having a photo database of it all by using my iPhone's camera.... that's neither here nor there.... BUT I thought I would put the pieces of art that I actually do have up as they are my favorite and make me smile... the last one is my by far the best in that it's a one-of-a-kind that my friend Emily made for me!!! :) GREAT photographer (now living in Seattle...)
So my favorite Aunt and Uncle from Orange County came out to visit for the weekend....which was WAY fun!! We went horseback riding, out to Red Robbin, the gym, a massage, the Kentucky Derby, the mall and to a Rockies game! (half of that is an inside joke...hehe..) They're the greats family fo sho...and we definitely had divertirse a costa de alguien! :) BUT the Rockies game was a great time and my mom and I enjoyed dancing around... I included the best song they played at the bottom. Here are some pictures from their visit and more are sure to come!!
I'm having a dilemma..... I think I HATE Netflix.... sigh.... they seem to "receive" my movie five days after I mail them and seem to take another four for me to actually have them in my mailbox. :)
Maybe I'll go back to the day when that lovely chubby woman at Blockbuster used to hold movies aside for me she thought I'd like and I'd come in and we'd chat...sigh... I loved the nerdiness of it... but I like the look and feel and phone capability of the Netflix queue better. I'm a nerd.....
